3forme – How to take care of your mental wellbeing as part of everyday life

We believe that mental health and fitness is for everyone, not just those with mental ill-health. That’s why we want to help you take care of your mental wellbeing and make this a normal part of everyday life. To help us on our mission we’re excited to unveil #3forme.

What is #3forme?

Launching this week, #3forme is a simple and effective way to help you become more self-aware when it comes to your mental wellbeing. As you become more self-aware you open the door to doing more of what works well for you, and less of what doesn’t. A daily exercise, #3forme will include tried and tested tricks and tips from our team of psychologists to help you form healthy habits that will help you improve your mental fitness.

Life gets busy, and with so many competing demands on our time and energy, it can be hard to prioritise our mental wellbeing. #3forme is designed to be simple, practical, and effective. It’s called #3forme because the exercises we’ll be encouraging you to do only take 3 minutes and can be easily incorporated into busy and demanding lifestyles.

Why do #3forme?

When it comes to physical health we know what’s good for us (eat a balanced diet, get regular exercise, don’t drink too much alcohol, etc) and in recent years various health campaigns have told us how to do it – eat five portions of fruits and vegetables a day, walk 10,000 steps a day, limit your alcohol intake to less than 14 units per week and so on.

But when it comes to mental health, we’ve got some catching up to do! As psychologists, we know from our years of experience and clinical expertise what’s good for our mental health, and we’ll show you how to do it by regularly taking #3forme!

Why self-awareness matters

Self-awareness means taking a step back and learning to observe your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It can be as simple as noticing how you feel when you’re talking to another person or noticing the thoughts that you have in a certain situation.

As we become more self-aware, we start to notice the patterns between our thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and behaviours. For example, if you’re feeling unmotivated at work, you might feel heavy and lethargic in your body and have difficulty maintaining focus. This might then mean it takes you longer to get jobs done, triggering thoughts that you feel stuck and that you aren’t performing well.

Self-awareness is the first step to change and growth – you can’t change what you’re not aware of! Just by taking #3forme you’ll increase your self-awareness so you can do more of what helps your mental health and less of what doesn’t.

How to form healthy habits

Habits form when the things we do become automatic. Sometimes we form habits without realising it but we can also train ourselves to formhealthy habits. As psychologists, we know the science behind building healthy habits, and we’ll be drawing on this to help you get the most from your own time and energy. By taking #3forme regularly, you’ll begin to rewire your brain for positive mental health and will start doing more of the things that keep you mentally fit and resilient without having to think about it!

How do I do #3forme?

Simply log onto the app each day and your #3forme will be available on the homepage.
